Installation and activation

Extensions are not available in MyCashflow Free plan.

Some of Currency Converter's functionalities require adding support to the store theme.

Learn how to add theme support for Currency Converter.

Adding support for the feature requires the command of the HTML/CSS languages as well as the MyCashflow Interface markup. If you're not familiar with modifying themes, contact the designer of your store theme or our customer service.

MyCashflow's default themes and all of the themes available in the Theme store include ready support for the feature.

Here's how to enable the extension:

  1. In the admin panel, go to Account > Apps > Currency Converter.
  2. Order the extension by clicking Order now.
  3. In the extension settings, select the currencies that you'd like to display in your online store.
  4. Optional: Define exchange rates for the currencies that you'd like to display.

If you'd like the same prices to be displayed in your online store even if the exchange rate changes, specify a fixed exchange rate in extension settings.

If you'd like to use the ECB reference rates that are automatically updated every day, leave the fields empty.

Don't set fixed exchange rates if you accept payments in different currencies.

Klarna Payments and Klarna Checkout make it possible to accept payments in different currencies, so it is better not to set fixed rates for them if you use either of the two services.

If the customer pays a price calculated based on a fixed exchange rate, you may lose money or overcharge the customer.

  5. Save the extension's settings.

After you've enabled Currency Converter and selected the currencies you'd like to display, your customers will be able to select the preferred price currency in your online store.

Currency menu

After you've enabled Currency Converter, visitors to your online store will be able to select the currency of the prices from a currency menu.

Also, a new setting – Default currency – will appear in version settings. In this way, you can specify the currency that should be selected by default in the currency menu.

For the currency menu to be displayed in your online store, the store theme must include the {CurrencyNavigation} tag.

MyCashflow's default themes and all of the themes available in the Theme store include ready support for the feature.

If your store theme doesn't include the currency menu, you can add it yourself by editing the theme's HTML/CSS files or contacting our customer service or your store's designer.

Payment processing

The Currency Converter only displays prices in other currencies in the online store, but payments themselves are made in euros.

If the customer selects a currency other than the euro, MyCashflow's built-in single-page and multi-page checkouts will display a warning that the payment will be transferred in euros.

Klarna's payment methods make it possible to accept payments in different currencies. In such cases, the currency notification displayed at checkout is groundless. If you only use Klarna's payment methods in your online store, you may want to remove the notification from the checkout.

For the currency notification to be displayed at checkout, the store theme must include the {CurrencyNotification} tag.

MyCashflow's default themes and all of the themes available in the Theme store include ready support for the feature.

If your store theme doesn't include the currency notification, you can add it yourself by editing the theme's HTML/CSS files or contacting our customer service or your store's designer.

The notification is never displayed at the checkout provided by Klarna Checkout, with which you can also accept payments in currencies other than the euro.

Currency in orders and payment transactions

The currency selected by the customer is displayed in order details on the order page. The currency exchange rate valid at the moment of placing an order is displayed in the payment transaction's details, which you can view on the Orders > Payment transactions page or in the Payment transactions menu on the order page.

Additionally, if the order was paid for in a currency other than the euro via Klarna Payments or Klarna Checkout, the currency exchange rate applied to the order is displayed in the payment transaction's details in the right-hand Payment transactions pane on the order page.

The online store's reports don't take into account the actual currency used in an order and show all sums in the euro instead.
