Using the extension is free of charge. GLS charges for deliveries by agreement.

Services supported by the extension

The extension supports GLS EuroBusinessParcel, which allows you to offer your customers deliveries to EU countries, Norway and the UK.

Installation and setup

  1. Get GLS credentials.

Contact GLS sales, and mention that you need credentials for the MyCashflow integration.

A new GLS account will be created for you, and you will receive the credentials needed to use the integration.

  2. In your online store's admin panel, go to Account > Apps > GLS.
  3. In the extension settings, enter the credentials you have received from GLS sales.
  4. Save the extension's settings.

Now you can create a new shipping method that uses the GLS extension:

  1. Start creating a new shipping method on the admin panel page Settings > Shipping methods.

The shipping service selection page opens.

  2. Select GLS and the desired delivery service.
  3. Define the shipping method settings.
  4. Define the shipping method's weight limits and shipping costs.

Now GLS is available to customers at your online store's checkout.

Defining the shipping label size

When the shipping method for an order uses the GLS integration, the size of the address label can be selected from the following options in the shipping method settings:
  • A4: A5 sized label positioned in the upper corner of an A4 page (1 address label / page)
  • A4FIT: if the shipment consists of several parcels, an A5 sized address label is printed on an A4 page for each parcel (max. 2 / page)
  • A5: one A5 sized address label / page
  • label: thermal transfer label that also includes the GLS logo
  • glslabel: same as label but without the GLS logo (useful when using GLS's own labels that already include the logo)

Here's how to set the print size for shipping labels:

  1. In the admin panel of your online store, go to Settings > Shipping methods.
  2. On the left side menu, open a shipping method that uses the GLS integration.
  3. Press the Edit button on the header row of the shipping method.
  4. On the shipping method form, select the appropriate size from the drop-down menu in the Document type section.
  5. Save the changes by pressing the Save button at the bottom of the page.

Printing shipping labels

GLS shipping labels can contain both Posti and GLS shipping labels, as Posti delivers to GLS terminals in Finland.

Here's how to print a GLS shipping label for an order:

  1. In the admin panel of your online store, go to Orders.
  2. Open an order that uses a GLS shipping method and for which you want to print a shipping label.
  3. Press the Create address label link in the Shipping details section.

A tracking code is created for the order, and a print window opens. If the order is divided into multiple shipments, each will have its own shipping label printed on a separate page.

  4. Print the shipping label and close the print window.

If necessary, you can reopen the print window by pressing the Print address label link, which is now shown in the Shipping details section on the order page.

Printing return labels

For eventual product returns you can configure the service to print a return label along with the address label.

GLS return labels are not available in all countries.

If the order's target country is not supported, the return label will not be printed along with the address label.

Services with return label support

The following services available through the GLS integration offer a printable return label:

  • EuroBusinessParcel

Enabling return labels

Here is how to enable return label printing for a shipping method:

  1. In the admin panel of your online store, go to Settings > Shipping methods.
  2. From the left-hand menu open a shipping method that uses the GLS extension.
  3. Press the Edit button on the header row of the shipping method.
  4. In the shipping method settings section Additional services activate Print return label.
  5. Save the changes by pressing the Save button at the bottom of the page.

Once you have done this, the return label will be included as an additional page in all the address labels printed for this shipping method.

Shipping method-specific shipment and measurement details for customs

Generally, a shipping service requires customs information and measurements to be specified for shipments destined beyond the customs border (such as when shipping from the EU to other parts of the world; as a special case, this also applies to shipments between the Åland Islands and the rest of the EU). This can be implemented in an extension as follows:

  • EuroBusinessParcel
    • Product tariff codes (CN), countries of origin, and a free-form description of the shipment's contents (specified on the shipment information form)
    • Default shipment description (specified on the Settings > Order settings page)

If the shipment does not need to be cleared through customs and the delivery service does not otherwise require you to specify its actual dimensions, the GLS extension will use the default dimensions of 15 x 15 x 15 cm.

GLS's electronic customs clearance

MyCashflow's GLS extension includes support for automatic electronic customs clearance. This means that when you send orders to countries requiring customs clearance, you won't need to print customs documents and attach them to the shipment, as MyCashflow automatically transmits the information to the GLS system.

Customs information is transmitted to GLS when you register the shipment by filling in the customs information form on the order page.

When the shipment arrives at customs, the information provided by you will be digitally available in the GLS system.
