For the most part you may want to create customized templates to use in sending out your online store's newsletter. You can also create separate templates to use with different campaigns.
Campaign Monitor contains a variety of ready-to-use email templates. You can select the desired ready-to-use template while creating a new email campaign.
The Campaign Monitor templates cannot be used via MyCashflow's admin panel. All campaigns created directly in MyCashflow use MyCashflow's email templates.
However, the details of campaigns created in Campaign Monitor can be updated in MyCashflow even if the campaign doesn't use the default template.
If you send an email campaign via Campaign Monitor, you won't be able to use the email campaign templates that might have been created for your MyCashflow email theme.
To create custom templates in Campaign Monitor, you need to know HTML and CSS. You can also order a customization from one of MyCashflow's partners.
To create a new email template:
- Create a separate HTML file for the template.
In the template, use Campaign Monitor's template tags. Download a sample template.
Note the use of the
<repeater/>
and<layout/>
tags. These tags enable you to create all sorts of elements in your email template, which you can add to your message's contents as you see fit. - You may want to include CSS styles in the same file. It may also be a good idea to define the email design by using the
<table>
element as not all email clients support CSS styles.
Once the file is ready, upload it to your Campaign Monitor account on the My Templates page.
- Select Upload your own HTML and define email details:
Enter an easily recognizable name for the template.
Upload the HTML file with the template as well as all other files connected to the template packed as a ZIP file.
- Save the template to preview it.
Next time you send a new campaign, you'll be able to select and add contents to the template you've just uploaded.
