With the help of Campaign Monitor automations, you can send something like an automated welcome message to a visitor who's just subscribed to your newsletter (for example). Here is where you can learn about how to create autoresponders.

In Campaign Monitor, autoresponders are created by using automations. To learn more about automations, see Campaign Monitor's help center.

To create an autoresponder in Campaign Monitor:

  1. In your online store's admin panel, go to the settings for the Email Marketing extension.
  2. Make sure that the Newsletter subscribers list in your store's admin panel has been synchronized with one of the lists in Campaign Monitor.
  3. From the extension's settings, access Campaign Monitor.
  4. Go to the Automation page.
  5. Click Create new journey.
  6. From the drop-down menu at the bottom, select the list that you've synchronized with your online store's Newsletter subscribers groups.
  7. In the What will trigger this journey? section, select Subscriber joins the list.
  8. Click Build your journey to start adding activities that should be performed in this automation.
  9. Add an activity to the automation for sending the email message.
  10. In the menu on the left, fill in the email details, and click Save.
  11. Finally, click Turn on journey in the upper right corner.

The newly created welcome message will be sent to recipients who have subscribed to the selected list once you've synchronized the subscribers in your online store's admin panel via Campaign Monitor. Read synchronization instructions ›

New subscribers who are added via Campaign Monitor won't receive the automatic confirmation message.

Sending your newsletter subscribers an automated welcome message when they subscribe to your newsletter is the best way of engaging them. You can, for example, offer your new subscribers a 5% discount for subscribing or surprise them by sending them the code which entitles them to a discount in your welcome message.
