Once you have created a new shipping method, you need to specify its shipping costs and weight limits. If you do not specify any weight limit, the shipping method will not be visible at the online store checkout when a customer places an order.

Setting weight limits and shipping costs
The prices of shipping costs for orders are tiered according to the weight limits you set: if the total weight of the order exceeds the lower weight limit, the price of shipping costs is determined by the upper weight limit.
You can set the shipping method's weight limits and shipping costs as follows:
You can add other weight limits to tier the shipping costs differently. If you want the shipping cost to be the same regardless of the weight of the order, just set one weight limit.
Set the upper weight limit high enough. If the total weight of the order exceeds the maximum weight limit you set, the shipping method will not be visible at the online store checkout.
In addition to the tiered upper limits, you can set a minimum weight limit in the shipping method settings. If the total weight of the order is less than the minimum weight limit you set, the shipping method will not appear at the online store checkout.

Calculation of order shipping costs
The system calculates the shipping costs of the order by relating the shipping costs according to the weight limits of the shipping method to the total weight of the order.

Before the customer has selected a shipping method, the system uses the weight limits of the online store's default shipping method as the basis for calculation. The default shipping method is the first one on the list on the
page.If you wish, you can change the default shipping method of the online store. See instructions on how to sort shipping methods.
