Once you've created a new shipping method, you'll need to define its shipping costs too. Otherwise the shipping method won't be displayed at checkout.

About shipping costs

In MyCashflow, shipping costs can be defined according to weight limits:

  • A price, defined for each weight limit, is then be applied to all orders with total weight below that limit.
  • The order's total shipping costs are determined based on the total weight of the ordered products and the price corresponding to that weight limit.

Setting shipping costs

Define weight limits and shipping costs for the method in the shipping method view:

  1. In the admin panel, go to Settings > Shipping methods and select the desired shipping method.
  2. Add a new row to the list of shipping costs by clicking the Add shipping cost button.

If you don't want to define shipping costs according to weight limits, create only one shipping costs row. The price indicated in this row will be applied to all orders whose total weight will be lower than the indicated maximum weight. Make sure that you indicate a high weight limit so that your customers will be able to use the shipping method irrespective of the order's weight.

Read also how shipping methods are selected for orders.

  3. Add weight and price to the row by positioning the pointer in the Click to edit fields.

Shipping costs are always rounded to two decimals.

  4. The fields open for editing. Indicate the weight in kilograms and the price in euros. After entering the data, click OK or press the Enter key on your keyboard.

If the order's total weight exceeds the shipping method's maximum weight, the shipping method won't be displayed at checkout.

After the shipping costs have been defined, the shipping method will be enabled in your store and the customer will be able to see it at checkout while placing an order with package sizes and weights allowed by the method.

Calculating order shipping costs

Shipping costs are calculated for an order differently depending on whether or not the customer has already selected the shipping method for the order. In the MyCashflow default theme, the customer can see order shipping costs while selecting the shipping method.

If the customer has added products to the shopping cart but hasn't selected a shipping method yet, shipping costs are calculated based on the order's weight and the store's default shipping method.

The default method uses the first shipping method from the list on the Settings > Shipping methods page.

See instructions on how to rearrange shipping methods.

After the customer has selected a shipping method, the order shipping costs are calculated based on that method and the order's weight.
