In MyCashflow, you can publish news to inform your customers about the latest events in your online store. Here you can learn how to use news in your online store.

You can use news to tell your audience e.g. about changes in the product catalog, such as new models. You can also use news as a blog, in which you can publish marketing contents.

News in the default theme

The default theme's footer contains a list of latest news.
Clicking the title of a news article redirects visitors to a news page with the article and a list of latest news in the sidebar.

In the default theme, the list of latest news can be edited, so that it will appear at a different location in the theme. You can also add new lists to the theme. The appearance of the news article can be modified as well.

If you don't have any experience in editing theme files, contact your theme's designer or our customer service.

Creating and modifying news

To publish a news article:

  1. In the admin panel, go to Contents > News.
  2. In the left-hand pane, click Add post.
  3. Fill in the news details form.

  4. Click Save.

To edit an already published article:

  1. In the admin panel, go to Contents > News.
  2. From the left-hand pane or the Latest activity list, select the desired article.
  3. In the article's details, click Edit.
  4. Make the desired changes and save the form.

The settings in the news form

Here you can learn about the fields and settings in the news form.
  • Subject: enter the article's title here. The title will be displayed on navigation lists, so make sure it summarizes the article's contents well.
  • Show in version: select the versions in which the article should be visible.
  • In brief: optionally, enter the summary of the news article here. In the default theme, the summary is displayed in bold at the beginning of the news article.
  • Content: enter the article's main content here.
  • News image: here you can upload an image that, in the default theme, will be displayed under the article's title. The recommended minimum width of the image is 870 px.
  • Image caption: enter the caption for the image that, in the default theme, will be used as the image's alt text.
  • Image link: enter here an internal (/category/2) or absolute (www.osoite.fi) link, to which the visitors will be directed when they click the image.
    • For example, if you publish an article about a new product category, you may want to add to the image a link to the category's page.
  • Release date: schedule the article's release by entering here the desired date. The article will be published on that day at midnight.

Search engine optimization

If you have installed the Web Designer extension, in the Search Engine Optimisation section you can specify the document and page titles and meta description that will appear in search engine results. (Find out more about optimizing your MyCashflow online store for search engines)

The page title serves as the content header on the online store's product page, while the document title is included in the tab label at the top of the browser window or below the address bar. If you leave the title empty, MyCashflow will use the product name as its substitute.

In addition to search engine optimisation, you can set a Google product category for product feeds or ads and, if necessary, mark the product as adult content.

Template file

If your online store has the Web Designer extension, you will also see the a Template file section on the form, where you can choose an alternative page template (if one is included in the store theme).

Deleting news articles

To delete a news article:

  1. In the admin panel, go to Contents > News.
  2. From the left-hand pane or the Latest activity list, select the desired article.
  3. Open the article for editing by clicking Edit.
  4. At the top of the news form, click the Delete link.
