Prints the page meta description that is displayed e.g. on search engine result pages.

Kuvaus

Primarily, the tag prints the short description specified in the search engine optimization form of the Web Designer extension.

The length of the meta description is not limited but search engines take into account only the first 255 characters.

You can set the maximum length by using the maxlength attribute.

If the page doesn't have a separate meta description specified in the form of the Web Designer extension, the meta description is set based on the current scope and contents:

  • The meta descriptions of the brand and product category are based on the content field ({BrandDescription} / {CategoryDescription})
  • The product page uses the short description
  • The news page uses the news summary
  • On the content page, the description is left blank, and search engines use the contents from the beginning of the page as the meta description.

Allowed values: the number of characters as an integer. E.g. maxlength: 255

before/after:

With the before and after attributes, you can define content that is output before or after the content produced by the tag.

Allowed values: text that may contain HTML and Interface markup.

E.g.

  • before: '<p>This markup appears before the tag's own content.</p>'.
  • after: '<p>This appears after the tag's own content.</p>'

If the tag does not produce any content, the content of the before and after attributes will also not be displayed.

Adds an escape character before quotation marks in the output. The attribute makes it easier to process the tag-produced content when using JavaScript.

Allowed values: true/false. The default value is false.

or:

Allowed values: text that may contain HTML and Interface markup.
