Klarna Checkout v3 was made available in all MyCashflow online stores on 15 December 2020.

The update was automatic and free of charge, but the payment service doesn't become automatically visible to customers after the update.

There are substantial differences between Klarna Checkout v3 and its predecessor both in terms of functionalities as well as layout. Here's a brief summary of the changes brought about by the new version:

  • The new Klarna Checkout is an entire checkout solution (even more than the previous version), not just a payment method.

After the update, the availability of other payment services in versions that use Klarna Checkout will be limited. Currently, the only supported services are MyCashflow's built-in Invoice, Advance payment and Cash-on-delivery payment methods as well as PayPal.

MyCashflow’s customer service can add support for Klarna’s external payment services to your store.

  • The update introduces a revamped, easy-to-use and clear-cut Klarna checkout to the online store.

At the same time, the old Klarna checkout theme templates will be deprecated. From now on, the checkout provided by Klarna Checkout will function as an internal page of the MyCashflow system, the appearance of which is not customizable apart from color scheme.

  • Versions that use Klarna Checkout v3 must be SSL-encrypted.
  • Klarna Checkout's pricing is going to change.

However, if you already use Klarna Checkout v2, the pricing will remain the same for your account even after the update.

    See the new price list.

  • With the new Klarna Checkout, you can reach customers in even more countries than before.

See an updated list of countries supported by Klarna Checkout.

  • The payment service's settings can be managed on a separate Settings > Klarna Checkout page in the admin panel.

After the update, there is going to be only one Klarna Checkout solution in your online store, the settings of which won't be available in the settings of regular payment methods.

  • The checkout includes support for the Klarna Shipping Assistant.

Shipping methods are displayed at the checkout provided by Klarna Checkout in a different way than in the case of MyCashflow's regular checkouts. You can also provide additional details and delivery times for shipping methods.

  • Klarna Checkout v3 doesn't include a testing mode.
  • Order details are always up-to-date in the Klarna consumer app.

Previously, not all order changes were updated in the Klarna consumer app, which meant that occasionally information provided by the app and the online store's order tracking would differ.

If you edit order content (e.g. add or remove products) before shipping, Klarna will review the changes and may, when necessary, reject them, depending on the customer's creditworthiness.

  • Klarna's on-site messaging banners can be added to the online store with a minor theme modification.

You can use on-site messaging banners to display personalized messages to customers registered with Klarna.

Updating Klarna Checkout in the online store

Your old Klarna Checkout v2 is going to be updated automatically and free of charge to the new v3 version.

The service was updated in all MyCashflow stores during autumn 2020, and the update was completed on 15 December 2020. If you were using the old KCO version, you received a message from our customer service during the update.

After the update, the new checkout solution provided by Klarna Checkout v3 will be hidden by default. Other settings in the old v2 version are going to remain unchanged. To set Klarna Checkout as visible in your online store, go to the store's admin panel's Settings > Klarna Checkout > Summary page.

Klarna Checkout will end support for the old v2 version on 15 January 2020. From this point onwards, using the old KCO version in your online store won't be possible anymore.

Adding support for countries supported in KCO v3

Klarna Checkout v3 enables you to sell to even more countries than before, but right after the update you'll be able to sell only to the countries supported in the old v2 version.

The new version includes the option to sell in local currencies in selected countries.

Once Klarna Checkout has been updated in your online store, contact Klarna's support, and ask Klarna to add support for all supported countries to your account.

Google Analytics and Klarna Checkout

Using version-specific Google Analytics tracking IDs in different store versions with the new Klarna Checkout requires action. Previous implementations in which the generic Google Analytics tracking ID was overwritten on a version-specific basis in the store theme by using the {GoogleAnalyticsScript} tag won't work in the Klarna Checkout v3 version.

When necessary, you can ask your theme designer or our customer service for help identify your online store's version-specific Google Analytics tracking IDs.
