There are several reasons why your online store's shipping methods may be hidden. Check all the points in this article to find out why the shipping methods are not available.

1) The store version is not selected in the settings of the shipping method.

  1. In the admin panel, go to Settings > Shipping methods.
  2. Check if there are any grayed-out shipping methods in the menu on the left column.

Grayed-out shipping methods are not available in any store version.

  3. Open each grayed-out shipping method in turn for editing by pressing the Edit button in the upper right corner.
  4. At Enabled in version on the shipping method form, select all store versions in which you want the shipping method to be available.
  5. Press the Save button at the end of the form.

Also check the availability of other shipping methods in store versions.

2) The package sizes of the products chosen by the customer do not match the shipping methods.

When a customer is placing an order, only those shipping methods that are suitable for shipping all the products included in the order will be available at the checkout. For example, if an order contains a product that should be delivered in a Large Parcel, but there's no shipping method for which this package size has been enabled, the checkout won't display any shipping methods.

  1. Note all products for which the necessary shipping methods are not available at the checkout.
  2. Open each of these products in turn for editing.
  3. See what the package size is at Weight on the product form.
  4. In the admin panel, go to Settings > Shipping methods.
  5. Select the shipping method with which you'd like to ship the product.

The package sizes that can be delivered with the shipping method are shown in the shipping method details.

If the package size of any product included in the order is missing from the list of package sizes, the shipping method will not be available at the online store's checkout when the order is being placed.

  6. Open the shipping method for editing and select all relevant package sizes at Shipping method limitations on the settings form.
  7. Press the Save button at the end of the form.

Go through all the remaining shipping methods and products in the same way.

3) The shipping country selected by the customer is disallowed in the shipping method's settings

  1. In the admin panel, go to Settings > Shipping methods.
  2. Select the shipping method that is not available at the checkout, and open it for editing.

At Shipping countries on the shipping method form, you can check which countries are allowed and which are disallowed.

The shipping method will not be available at the checkout if the customer selects a disallowed shipping country when placing the order.

  3. Add a country to the list of allowed countries by selecting it from the list of disallowed countries and pressing the Choose selected button above the list.
  4. Press the Save button at the end of the form.
  5. Go through all shipping methods to ensure that they have the appropriate countries allowed.

Go through all shipping methods to ensure that they have the appropriate countries allowed.

4) The customer's postal code is outside the specified postal code area

By using postal code restriction, you can limit the use of a shipping method to selected areas.

You can set the restriction only for shipping methods with which one of the following has been specified as the target country:
  • Finland and the Åland Islands
  • Belgium
  • United States

You can use entire postal codes (e.g. 00100 = delivery only to the Helsinki city center) or postal code range (e.g. 00* = delivery to anywhere in Helsinki).

If a shipping method is subject to a postal code restriction and the customer's address is out of its bounds, the shipping method won't be displayed at checkout at all.

  1. In the admin panel, go to the Orders > Shopping carts page and check the postal code entered by the customer in the shopping cart customer information.
  2. On the Settings > Shipping methods page, select the shipping method that is not available at the checkout.
  3. Check the postal code restrictions specified in the shipping method details.
  4. If necessary, add new supported postal codes or postal code areas to the shipping method.

Learn more about using postal code restrictions.

5) The total weight of the order does not fit within the weight limits of the shipping method.

A shipping method is only available at the online store's checkout if the maximum weight limit set for it is not exceeded by the total weight of the order. In addition, a shipping method may have a minimum weight limit that the total weight of the order must not fall below.

  1. Check the total weight of the order for which no shipping methods are available, as well as the individual weight of each product in the order.

See the individual weight of each product at Weight on the product form. You can see the total weight of the order in the order view:

Once you have determined the weight of the order and each product, check the weight limits of the shipping method:
  1. In the admin panel, go to Settings > Shipping methods.
  2. Select the shipping method to see its details.
    • The set maximum weight limits are visible directly in the shipping method details. Make sure that the total weight of the order does not exceed the highest weight limit.

If the weight of an individual product or the whole order exceeds the highest weight limit of the shipping method, add a new weight limit or, if necessary, create an entirely new shipping method for heavier orders.

    • You can check the minimum weight limit on the shipping method form, which you can access by clicking the Edit button in the upper right corner of the page. Make sure that the total weight of the order is not less than the minimum weight limit.

If necessary, you can adjust the minimum weight limit for the shipping method or create a new shipping method for lighter orders.

Check the weight limits of other shipping methods too.
