Google's old Universal Analytics (analytics.js) is to be abolished on 1 July 2023. MyCashflow has been prepared for this by introducing a new Google Analytics 4 extension, which enables you to use the new GA4 properties in you online store.
It is advisable to start using the new Google Analytics 4 in parallel with the old version, so you can, if need be, compare the user data gathered by the two different versions.
Enabling the old MyCashflow Google Analytics extension has been blocked, but if it has been enabled in an online store since earlier, it will continue to function until its ultimate removal on 1 July 2023.
Differences between the old and new Analytics
Google Analytics 4 differs from the old extension as follows:
- No support for the Google Optimize service:
Google Optimize is not available with the new Google Analytics 4 extension.
- Built-in order conversion tracking:
With the old Google Analytics version, order conversion tracking required that the conversion goals and stages had been defined manually. With the new version, tracking is based on event data that Analytics uses to create conversion reports.
- Built-in e-commerce tracking:
You do not need to enable the online store's activity tracking separately, as it is also based on built-in event data.
In relation to this, the
{ProductLinkData}
and{BannerLinkData}
tags will be removed, as they print metadata needed for the old Analytics. - Search function tracking enabled by default:
The new Analytics by default tracks the use of online store's search function. To track the search function, you only need to connect the Search Console property.
Enabling Google Analytics 4
MyCashflow has made available the new Google Analytics 4 extension, which allows you to use GA4 properties in your online store.
You can enable the new Analytics version in your online store by adding the tracking ID for the GA4 property to the extension settings.
