MyCashflow currently has two different PayPal payment service integrations. The older version is being phased out, so if you use PayPal, we recommend you switch to the newer service.
The PayPal services available in MyCashflow:
- PayPal REST (recommended)
- PayPal Express (deprecated)
The new integration, based on the REST interface, is much more advanced and supports, among other things, payment status queries directly from the order page in your online store’s admin panel. Data transfer between customers and the merchant is also more secure with the new PayPal REST service.
The PayPal Express payment service will be completely phased out by the end of April 2016.
Upgrading to the new PayPal REST service
How to upgrade to the new PayPal REST service:
- Create a new payment method.
- Choose PayPal (REST) as your payment service.
- Install PayPal REST according to our deployment guide.
- Remove the payment method that uses the old PayPal Express payment service.
Switching to the new service for the old payment method is not recommended, as PayPal REST status queries will not work for orders created with the old service. Status queries for older payments with the new service may incorrectly change the status of the payment to open.
To use the PayPal REST service, you need a Premier or Business level PayPal account. Top up your account in PayPal if necessary.
